Cohort 17 alum, G-SPACE recognized for machine learning platform for microgravity product design.

St. Louis, MO – August 4, 2026 – Belden Inc. (NYSE: BDC), a leading global provider of complete connection solutions is pleased to announce that G-SPACE has been named the winner of the third annual Joseph C. Belden Innovation Award. G-SPACE is a machine learning platform for microgravity product design that turns complex experiment data into actionable insights for Research and Development (R&D) and manufacturing teams—enabling faster analytics, optimization and prediction while helping scale microgravity experiments into repeatable, lower-risk processes.
Named for Belden founder, Joseph C. Belden, the 2026 award commemorates the 150th anniversary of his birth. His innovative spirit and patents helped the company become an early telecommunications leader, laying the foundation for Belden’s modern-day portfolio of complete connection solutions. The Joseph C. Belden Innovation Award shines a spotlight on novel technologies that power the future in industries such as manufacturing, data centers and energy—especially where Information Technology (IT)/Operational Technology (OT) convergence is reshaping the connected industrial enterprise.
G-SPACE was presented with the award on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, during the Joseph C. Belden Innovation Summit and Award at the Historic Dearborn Inn in Dearborn, Michigan. With a theme of innovation in the IT/OT Converged World, the summit brought together industry innovators, technology leaders, partners and customers to explore how IT/OT convergence is reshaping the connected industrial enterprise—examining how technologies such as edge infrastructure, industrial networking, private 5G, physical AI, network automation, cybersecurity and IT/OT orchestration can solve real operational challenges.
“Being recognized as a 2026 finalist is a tremendous honor, especially in G-SPACE’s first year participating in the Belden Innovation Summit,” said Ioana Cozmuta, Founder and CEO of G-SPACE. “The program thoughtfully combined technical insight into IT/OT challenges with leadership, transparency, and the human side of innovation—because technology creates possibilities, but people and trust make progress happen. The Summit opened my eyes to new ways G-SPACE can connect terrestrial and space-based IT/OT systems.”
“From the beginning, the Joseph C. Belden Innovation Award was created to shine a spotlight on companies that turn bold ideas into real-world impact—often by leveraging limited resources with limitless ambition,” said Dr. Ashish Chand, President and CEO at Belden. “This year’s finalists embodied that spirit through innovation, partnership, and the ability to bring critical worlds together, especially across IT and OT. Congratulations to G-SPACE, our 2026 winner, for its groundbreaking machine-learning platform accelerating microgravity product design and helping teams move faster from experimentation to scalable, repeatable outcomes.”
The two other award finalists were PROLIM, which submitted PROMIS, an AI-native Digital Manufacturing Platform for Industry 4.0 integrating AI, IoT and automation to deliver real-time visibility, predictive insights and operational excellence; and Thread, which submitted Thread, an AI-powered workflow platform that automates the handoff from sales to delivery for network infrastructure projects—helping reduce delays, rework and time-to-service.
These finalists were chosen by a panel of industry expert judges who reviewed a highly competitive field of submissions. Entries were evaluated on criteria such as level of innovation, business value and sustainability impact.
